1. Srinagar
Srinagar is one of the largest cities in Jammu and Kashmir with a total population of about 11,80,000 people and placed at 32nd rank. The main languages of this town are Hindi, English, Urdu, Dogri, and Kashmiri.

2. Pahalgam
Pahalgam is situated in the Anantnag district of Jammy and Kashmir and is one of the famous hill stations and tourists destinations in Jammu and Kashmir in the northern part of India.
This town has its administrative importance in Jammu and Kashmir as it consists of the headquarters of one of the five tehsils of the Anantnag district. This town is situated almost in the central position of Lidder Valley with an average elevation of about 2,750 meters. The total population of Pahalgam is about 6,000 people and the languages spoken here are Hindi, English, Kashmiri, Dogri and Urdu.
Pahalgam is also known as the starting spot for the Hindu annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Yatra and the holiest place Chandanwari has situated about 15 km from this town. 3. Gurez Valley
Gurez Valley is situated in the Bandipora district of the union territory Jammu and Kashmir in the northern part of India with an elevation of about 2,585 metres from sea level. It is a small town with a population of about 37,990 people who generally speak Urdu and Kashmiri along with Dogri, Hindi and English.
This is a very cold place and is generally covered by snow-capped mountains. The major portion of this area like Toabat to Sharda Peeth and Kamri and Minimarg is the part of Neelum and Astore districts respectively and is administered by Pakistan whereas the area from Taobat to Abdullah Tulasil which is also known as Gurez Tehsil is the part of Banipore district and is administered by the Indian Government.

5. Dachigham National Park

This national park was established in the year 1981 for ensuring clean drinking water availability to the Srinagar city though this area was protected from the long back about in the year 1910 under the supervision and control of Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir and after independence under various government departments.

6. Vaishno Devi Temple
The famous and hole temple of Hindu pilgrims is located in Katra at the secret Trikoota Mountain of Jammu and Kashmir in the northern part of India.
As per the Hindu’s secret books and tales in the local area, this temple is very ancient and had incarnated in the Treta Yuga with the power of goddess Saraswati, Parvati and Lakshmi for the welfare of entire mankind in every era.
The other famous names of maharani Vaishno Devi are Trikuta, Ambe, Mata Rani and Vaishnavi. It is believed that the bad souls were endangering the earth in Treta Yuga and to save herself the earth went to Trimurti in search of help and the power of all the three goddesses could not work individually then they combine their entire force in one and created the goddess known as Mata Rani Mata Vaishno Devi. They with their entire power ultimately defeated evil forces after many battles and made the earth worth living for mankind.
After the creation of Mata Vaishno Devi, there was also exists one more evil force in the form of Tantric named Bhairon Nath who fall in love with the goddess due to her beauty and continued to follow her and to save herself Mata Vaishno Devi fled into Trikuta hills and created the form of Mahakali to cut the head of Bhairon Nath with the sword in a cave where she lived for about nine months.

7. Amarnath Temple

9. Gulmarg
The name Gulmarg was founded by the ruler Yousuf Shah Chak at the time of his visit with his queen Habba Khatoon during the period he ruled in Kashmir.
The Mughal king Jahangir has a great contribution in beautifying this place by putting a large variety of wildflowers from his garden in Delhi. Thereafter this place became the camp of Britishers for their summer camp and a number of activities were developed by them like hunting and golfing and for this purpose they developed here a number of gulf courses including one exclusively for women. After independence, the Gulmarg became part of Jammu and Kashmir in the northern part of India and was again developed for winter sports by the government.
This place is located in the valley of Pir Panjal Range of Himalayas and has an altitude of about 2,660 meters. 10. Yusmarg – Jammu and Kashmir
Yusmarg is located in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir in the northern part of India with an elevation of 2,400 metres from sea level. It is a very small town where the people generally speak Kashmiri, Hindi, Urdu, Dogri and English.
The meaning of its name Yusmarg is the Meadow of Jesus and is one of the famous hill stations in Jammu and Kashmir. It is supposed that the Ahmediyya Muslim Community visited this union territory and stayed in Yusmarg and made this place their permanent home. The beauty of this place can be estimated from its location which is at the bank of the Doodganga River and in the Pir Panjal peaks ( the Himalaya subrange).

11. Nubra Valley
Nubra Valley Jammu and Kashmir – Nubra Vally the most famous and beautiful place is situated in the northernmost area of Jammu and Kashmir.
Nubra Valley was originally known as Ldumra which literal meaning is the valley of flowers. This is the home of orchards, Bactrian camels, scenic vistas and monasteries.
This valley is located in the snow-capped hills of Himalayan peaks between Tibet and Kashmir and is administered and controlled by the Leh district. The valley is unique as it appears white in winter because of heavy snowfalls and green in summer due to lush green grounds and trees.
The tourists have to cross the Khardung La which is the highest pass in the whole world whose altitude is about 5,605 metres whereas the altitude of this valley itself is about 3,160 metres from sea level.
The beautiful and clean rivers Shyok and Siachen whose water appears transplant meets here and offers an eye-catching view to the visitors. This valley lies between Ladakh from the range of Karakoram and Siachen Glacier and therefore separate them from each other.
This valley lures adventure tourists from all parts of the world because of its most attractive spectacular landscapes which are unique in the world. This place also offers an awesome experience of a new rush of adrenaline to the bikers.
The largest gompa in this valley is the Diskit monastery which was built in the rocky hills in the fifteenth century.
The unique statue of Maitreya Buddha which is about 33 metres tall is situated near to this monastery which gives a spectacular view of Buddhism. The other point of attraction here in the Hundr sand dunes is the double-humped Bactrian camel ride which is at about 10 to 11 km. away from the valley.
The Panamik village which is supposed to have medicinal virtues is the best place to relaxing in the sulphur hot spring. Also known for the Hippophae shrub famous as Leh Berry in this area. This place is now under the supervision of the Indian military due to the reason that it leads to their Siachen camps.
There are some statutory restrictions to visit this valley as the Indians required an Inner Line Permit and the foreigners need the protected area permit and the photocopy of which is required to submit to the military soldiers at Khardung La Pass.
The weather of this valley remains cold and therefore it is better to carry warm clothes to take care of and enjoy. The Ideal Time to Visit Nubra Valley: In summer April to June is the ideal time when the temperature of this valley remains warm and pleasant and from September to October this place becomes cold. From November to March Khardung La generally close down because of heavy rains and rainfall.
