Located at about 14 km from Udaipur this lake is one of the five famous lakes of this city. It was built in the year 1565 by King Udai Singh and is about 4 to 4.5 km. in length. It is the bio-product of a dam constructed for the adequate supply of water in the city and has a very big quantity of phosphate ingredients coming out of the phosphate mines. 

One conduit has been constructed which is connected to the Berach River. Situated in Udaipur at Lake Pichola Jag Mandir is built by the rigorous efforts of three Rajput Maharajas of the Mewar dynasty namely Maharaja Amer Singh who started its construction (1551), 

Maharaja Karan Singh progressed this work (1620-16280) and finally completed by Maharaja Jagat Singh (1628-1652). Since the construction of this Mandir is completed by Maharaja Jagat Singh its name is dedicated to him.

The complex of this mandir was generally used for organising parties by the royal families and once used for giving asylum to needy persons. The Gul Mahal the other well-known palace is also located here and built with the architecture of the Mughal style and is well-equipped with residential suits, courts, and reception halls.
