Chamba was supposed to be founded in 920 A.D. and is located in the Chamba district at the bank of the Ravi River of Himachal Pradesh and has a population of about 20,500 people. 

It is said that in the ancient time of around 500 A.D., the Rajput ruler Maru came from northwest India to this place. The name Chamba originated from a Hindu devout Champavati. 

When India became independent in August 1947 the Chamba was merged as a part of India with some other princedoms. It is bordered by Jammu & Kasmir, Ladakh, Lahaul, Kangra, and the Pathankot district. 

The Chamba appears to be an ancient city because the buildings are constructed with traditional architecture and local materials which also make this city unique and different from other parts of India. 

The heritage monuments and temples are situated in the old town on the lower side of Shah Madar Hill. This city is known for its natural beauty, lakes, streams, and temples. The main languages spoken in Chamba are English and Hindi.

4. Dharamshala

6. Dalhousie

Its total population is about 7,050 people and has the 25th rank in Himachal Place. 

This place was established by the British Governor-General In India named Dalhousie for summer retreats and therefore this hill station was known as Dalhousie. 

This is a hot and humid climate in summer whereas in winter it is cold to mild. Due to its hilly beauty, it attracted not only tourists but also filmmakers who directed the films like Field Lootera, The Last Leaf, and much more.  

The beauty of Dalhousie also attracted the big personalities of India like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who was forced to stay there for many months in the year 1937.

7. Kangra

This city has a famous historical identity and was one of the wealthiest cities in the state. The Vajreshwari Devi temple was one of the richest and oldest temples in this zone of India which was destroyed and looted several times along with a fort and town. 

It is also said that Mahmud of Ghazni looted temples, forts and cities in this region in the year 1009 but whether the fort of Kangra was looted or not is not confirmed to date. Mainly this place is famous for the Vajreshwari Devi temple which a large number of tourists and devotees visit all around to year. 

This valley is also known for the ancient famous Masrur temple which is supposed to get a place on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of its ancient heritage and beauty.

8. Kasauli

This town has a very high literacy rate of about 81% against the national average of 75% with about 55% male and 45% female population. 
 
The climate of this town is very good as about 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the winter and about 30 to 32 degrees in summer which is also a point of attraction for tourists. 
 
Situated about 80 kilometres from Shimla this town consists of the legacy of British architecture which witnesses British domination towards this town. The other pieces of evidence are the Christ Church and the Baptist Church which are made in the Gothic style of architecture.  
 
Upper Mall and Lower Mall are the main attraction of Kasauli. The Cantonment area of this place is well known for its Brewery which is supposed to be one of the oldest distilleries for very famous scotch whiskey in Asia.
 
Kasauli is surrounded by big forests and is known for a large number of species of Himalayan fauna and flora which also consists of endangered ones.

9. Hamirpur

Hamirpur is located in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh and is the Municipal Council headquarter of the Hamirpur district. The main source of livelihood for the people of this place is agriculture and animal husbandry. 

The historical beliefs about this town are that it was connected with the Katoch dynasty which had its domination at this place in the old days.

During the Mahabharata time, Hamirpur was part of the old Jalandhar-Trigarta empire which is proved by the existence of Puranas and Panini’s Ashtadhyai evident in Mahabharata. 

The literacy rate of this town is very high and is known for its Festivals and Educational Institutions. It is a very small town with a total population of about 17,600 people and got 12th position in Himachal Pradesh.

Like many other states, the language of this town is Hindi and English. The Awah Devi peak is the highest point of this place which is about 1252 meters. This is the place where heavy rain falls from June to September. 

This town is also famous for its political activeness and currently influenced by the Bharatiya Janta Party. In particular, this place is not as hilly and cloudy as other parts of Himachal Pradesh but it is surrounded by mountains and hills which is one of the points of attraction for tourists. 

The name of this town is taken from the name of Raja Hamir Chand Katoch who was the founder and ruler of this place w.e.f 1700 AD to 1740 AE. This town is full of tourist attractions and some traditional events.

The main agricultural product of this town is Mushrooms which not only boosts the economy of this town but also of the state to keep control and boost the production of Mushrooms the Directorate of Mushroom Research (DMR) is established by the government in Solan. 
 
Not only Mushroom also has a large production of tomatoes and, therefore, is called the City of Red Gold. The weather in Solan generally remains moderate unlike Shimla which is very cold and Kalka which is hot. This city is a favourite destination for tourists because of its weather and the snowfalls during the winter season. 
 
Some monasteries and temples witness their identity as an old city like the fort located at the top of the hill, The Shoolini Mata Temple, and the Jatoli Shiva Temples.
 
This town is still away from the urban culture of bars, discos, hangout places, pups, etc. The people of this place are very simple and traditional. Generally, the ladies wear the traditional salwar suit and some other local dresses whereas there is no such restriction on men.

11. Una

This town is connected with the Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar districts as well as the Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts of Punjab and Kangra and Himachal Pradesh respectively. 
 
Now its economy is boosting rapidly and it is converted into an industrial hub. This town is also famous for its Kila, a historical fort that belongs to the descendants of the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Sahib.

12. Chail

Kufri is one of the most popular hill stations located in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. Earlier it was part of Nepal but later it was ceded by the British under Sugauli Treaty. 
 
The population of this town is very small about 1150 people the official language is Hindi and English. The name Kufri is inspired by the word kufr or the lake. This town is known for its Himalayan wildlife zoo consists of antelopes, felines, and birds which are very rarely found in any part of the world. 
 
The Indian cultural Hotels and Restaurants are located here which is one of the main attractions for Indian tourists. It is very near to Shimla about 16 km. and is also the point of attraction for trekkers and hikers. 
 
The picnic spots and nature parks are very famous in Kufri. The Potato Research Station is also one of the assets of this town. The lush green hills around the Kufri give very high pleasure to the tourists.
 
Every year in winter in February an annual sports festival is organized here in which a large number of locals and visitors participate for skiing enthusiasts and other adventure sports are at their peak in winter.

15. Narkanda
Why-is-Himachal-Pradesh-so-beautiful?
Narkanda is located in the subdivision part of Kumarsain of the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh in the Northern part of India. This is a very beautiful place because of its location between the Sutlej River and Giri in this State. 
 
It is a very small town with a total population of about 900 people and most of them are Hindi-speaking. Its elevation is about 2,700 meters on the Hindustan Tibet Road and is surrounded by fir forest, apple orchards and the Himalayan Range. 
 
This place is full of very heavy rainfalls in the winter season and therefore is the best choice for skiing. The climate of this place remains pleasant all over the year. 
 
Though located in the remote area of Himachal Pradesh the literacy rate of this place is about 80 per cent. The forests of this area remain full of a variety of flora like Maple, Oak, Conifer, Populus, Aesculus and Corylus. 
 
This is one of the top tourist attractions because of its seclusion mountains and eternal snowline view. The presence of the high Himalayan Range, dense and lush green forest, and Apple Orchards add the beauty of this place and make it the perfect hill station for tourists. 
 
The most famous tourist attraction is Tannu Jabar Lake and a temple near it which is the first attraction of devotees visiting this place.

16. Kangra Fort

Why-is-Himachal-Pradesh-so-beautiful?
Kangra Fort is situated on the outer side of Kangra and is about 21 kilometres away from Dharamshala in the Himachal Pradesh and Punjab states of the northern part of India. 

This fort was originally built by the Rajput rulers of Kangra state by keeping in view its mythological ancient origins of the Trigarta Kingdom the reference of which is also given in the Mahabharata epic. 

The temples of this fort were very wealthy because the Hindus along with some others send gold and silver to offer to the presiding deity for earning meritorious karma. Therefore, a heavy amount of wealth is collected in the fort which later became the cause of dispute and attacks by various rulers and others.  

This fort was attacked several times by Mahmud Ghazni, Sher Shah Suri and Firuz Shah Tughluq in the year 1009, 1540 and 1360 respectively to plunder the treasures of the temples of this fort. 

This fort was conquered by various Mughal emperors who were attacked for looting the treasure of this fort which also weaken the Mughal power therefore Raja Sansar Chand II succeeded to conquer the fort, 

but at last, taken under control by the British as a result of the Anglo-Sikh war. This fort remains under their control from 1846 till 1905 when an earthquake heavily damaged the fort. The is one of the oldest and largest forts in the Himalayas.

17. Churdhar Wildlife Sanctuary

Churdhar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Himachal Pradesh State in the northern part of India with a total covered area of about 57 kilometres. 

It is in the Sirmaur district with an elevation of about 3,650 meters and the outer Himalayas, it is the highest peak. This peak is believed to be the holy destination for the people who belong to Solan, Sirmour, Shimla and Dehradun of Himachal Pradesh. 

This lush green area with dense forest and a large number of big trees make it the favourite place for tourists and also suitable for different kinds of fauna like Barking deer, Musk deer, Himalayan black bear, Langur and the dangerous Leopards. This place is mainly controlled and administered by the Chureshwar Sewa Samiti. 

The wildlife view and sanction can be taken from the top of Churdhar Peak. This place has a religious significance for Lord Shirgul Maharaj and various statues of God Shiva is located within the sanctuary complex. This sanctuary is very famous for the existence of herbal medicine plants and trees. 

The attraction of this place is it provides tourists with an opportunity to enjoy nature and wildlife. This place is also a favourite for the trackers because it provides beautiful trekking routes and other activities that also attract tourists throughout the year. 

This is a unique fact about this sanctuary that it is not under the direct control of any statutory authority still this is our duty to properly visit and not to kill any animal or bird in the sanctuary.

18. Shoja – Himachal Pradesh
